Constipation / Anorectal Physiology Testing
Anorectal physiology tests are safe, low risk procedures and are unlikely to cause any pain. Please inform the doctor if you experience any discomfort or pain or wish to pause for a while during the tests.
FAECAL INCONTINENCE
Fecal incontinence is not being able to control bowel movements. Stool leaks from the rectum without warning. Fecal incontinence ranges from an occasional leakage of stool while passing gas to a complete loss of bowel control.
Anorectal Surgery – Rectal Prolapse
Rectal prolapse occurs when the rectum becomes stretched out and protrudes from the anus. Rectal prolapse surgery is a procedure to repair rectal prolapse, which occurs when the last part of the large intestine (the rectum) stretches and protrudes from the anus.
Anal Fistula
An anal fistula is a small tunnel that develops between the end of the bowel and the skin near the opening of the bottom (anus). It's usually caused by an infection near the anus, which results in a collection of pus (abscess) in the nearby tissue.
Anal Fissures
An anal fissure is a tear in the lining of the anus or anal canal (the opening through which stool passes out of the body). The fissure can be painful and may bleed.
Anorectal Surgery – Haemorrhoids
Closed hemorrhoidectomy is the surgical procedure most commonly used to treat internal hemorrhoids. It consists of the excision of hemorrhoidal bundles using a sharp instrument followed by complete wound closure with absorbable suture.
Endoscopy
An endoscopy is a test to look inside your body. A long, thin tube with a small camera inside, called an endoscope, is passed into your body through a natural opening such as your mouth.
Rectal Polyps / Tumours
Rectal polyps are protuberances in the inner lining of the bowel. The innermost lining of the musosa comprises of cells which overgrow and in doing so, heaps up on itself forming a surface elevation.
Colon Polyps / Tumours
A colon polyp is a small clump of cells that forms on the lining of the colon. Most colon polyps are harmless. But over time, some colon polyps can develop into colon cancer. Colon cancer can be fatal when found in its later stages.
